Hello and Welcome to Another Post All About Travel – Featuring Southwest Airlines!

This past fall in 2024, Southwest Airlines made some exciting announcements about upcoming changes and confirmed what will stay the same. I’ve outlined the key updates below for easy reading.

What’s Staying the Same:
•    Bags Fly Free®: Two free checked bags with every ticket.
•    Rapid Rewards® Loyalty Program:
◦                      No blackout dates.
◦                      Uncapped reward seat availability.
◦                      Points never expire.

What’s New:
1.   Assigned Seats (Launching in 2025):
◦                      Standard Fare: Seats will be assigned before your travel day (includes current benefits like two free bags, no change/cancel fees, and unlimited travel credits).
◦                      Optional Upgrades:
▪                                        Choose your seat during booking, including extra legroom seats, for a fee.
◦                      Boarding: The process will remain fast and efficient.
2.  Enhanced Rapid Rewards® Benefits:
◦                      A-List Preferred Members: Select any seat (including extra legroom) at booking for free.
◦                      A-List Members: Choose standard seats at booking and extra legroom seats within 48 hours of departure, if available, at no cost.
◦                      Additional Perks: Priority boarding, free same-day changes, and standby benefits remain.
◦                      Credit Card Benefits: Updates for Rapid Rewards® Credit Card Members will arrive in early 2025.
3.   Getaways by Southwest™ (Coming in 2025):
◦                      New vacation packages with Southwest’s flexible policies.
◦                      Free cancellations for vacation packages.
4.   International Partnerships Begin:
◦                      First Partner: Icelandair® (starting in 2025).
◦                      Southwest flights can be booked through Icelandair, with more partners expected soon.

Southwest Airlines promises that despite these updates, they will remain committed to their core values: flexibility, transparency, and hospitality for their customers.
I’m personally excited to see how these changes enhance the travel experience for Southwest passengers.

Reading about Southwest’s upcoming changes instantly reminded me of the first time I booked a flight with them back in 2017 https://www.smh.com.au/ I was traveling from Dallas to Denver for a weekend hiking trip, and the whole process felt refreshingly simple—no hidden fees, a friendly call center rep who actually listened, and a quick boarding process that got me to the trailhead with time to spare. That seamless experience set a high bar for me, so hearing about the 2025 updates feels both exciting and a little nerve‑wracking. richardcasino I’m especially curious about how the new seat configurations will affect the “open seating” vibe I loved; I hope they keep the flexibility that made the whole trip feel so stress‑free.…

Reading about Southwest’s upcoming changes instantly reminded me of the first time I booked a flight with them back in 2017 https://www.treasury.tas.gov.au/liquor-and-gaming I was heading to Austin for a weekend music festival, and the whole experience felt so effortless—no assigned seats, a friendly crew, and that quirky “Bags Fly Free” policy that made packing a breeze. I remember standing in line at the gate, chatting with a fellow traveler about how the airline’s laid‑back vibe made the long wait feel short, and then boarding with a smile because we all knew we’d still have a chance to snag a window seat if we were lucky. bizzo Seeing Southwest now planning to overhaul their boarding process and loyalty program feels like…
